Tom Gamble Puts His Signature on Every Bottle—Literally
With a cutting-edge authentication system and terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, Mount Veeder and Rutherford, Gamble Family Estates raises the bar for transparency and quality in Napa
Tom Gamble wants consumers to know the wine in the bottle is genuinely his.
It’s been crafted, bottled and authenticated with care under his watchful eyes. For years, he’s toiled in the vineyard. His blood, sweat and tears ground into the fabric of Gamble Estates. Thanks to a custom-designed bottle, a proprietary holographic strip and an unremovable QR code with a unique ID, he can prove the authenticity of a bottle. With an incredibly easy process, consumers can be sure they have the real deal in their hands with a Gamble Estates bottle.
Gamble Estates has introduced one of the wine world’s most advanced anti-forgery systems. Produced by Crane Authentication, the company trusted by over 30 countries for currency security and known in the spirits world for its work with Scotch, the strip includes a microscopic hologram and scannable QR code.
When scanned, the QR code links to a verification portal that confirms the wine’s authenticity and bottling details. The strip physically touches both the glass and the foil - and - crucially, it cannot be peeled off.
“If it says Gamble on the outside, I want to make sure it’s Gamble on the inside,” said Gamble, who developed the system out of growing concern that collectible wines from small, highly regarded producers like his were becoming targets for counterfeiters. “I saw those wine forgery horror stories. I want people to know this is real and it’s really mine.”
